Kindergarden - 1st Grade
Who Are Explorers?
The youngest group of Salam Scouts, Explorers are children who are at least five years or older and enrolled in kindergarten or first grade.
What Do Explorers Do?
Explorers engage in age-appropriate activities that spark wonder and creativity, learning about their place in creation and setting the stage for becoming confident explorers of their rapidly expanding world.

Designed for young adventurers aged 5-7 years old, our Explorer program is all about fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love for exploration. In a supportive and engaging environment, scouts embark on their scouting journey, nurturing foundational qualities that will help them grow into responsible, curious, and caring individuals. Through fun activities and positive interactions, Explorer Scouts will discover the wonders of nature, develop teamwork skills, and create lasting friendships. Explorer Badges
Explorer Scouts level badges are designed for scouts who are just beginning their scouting journey, typically aged 5-7 years old. Scouts within this age range are naturally curious so this series of badges focus on fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love for exploration in a supportive and engaging environment.

Adventurers
1st - 2nd Grade
Who Are Adventurers?
Adventurers are children enrolled in the second and third grades, interested in growing their understanding of both self and their community.
What Do Adventurers Do?
Adventurers are involved in activities designed to engage their budding sense of being part of a larger world. Through their involvement with Salam Scouts they begin developing a strong set of values and learn about the important role they play in a larger group.

Adventurer Badges
Adventurer Scouts level badges are designed for children ready to take the next step in their scouting journey, typically aged 7-9 years old. This level builds on the foundational skills learned in the Explorer stage, emphasizing more advanced concepts like leadership, problem-solving, and community involvement. Through hands-on activities such as outdoor adventures, team projects, and skill-building challenges, Adventurers develop greater independence, confidence, and responsibility. They also begin to take on leadership roles within their group, learning to mentor younger scouts and work together to achieve shared goals. Combining these badges with social emotional learning will continue to foster a deeper sense of self awareness and personal growth while continuing to nurture a sense of adventure, curiosity, and service to others.

Pathfinders
4th - 5th Grade
Who Are Pathfinders?
Pathfinders are children enrolled in the fourth and fifth grades, who are gaining confidence in their growing abilities and learning more about the values that should guide their actions.
What Do Pathfinders Do?
Pathfinders engage in activities that foster core values like kindness (ihsan), integrity (amanah) and accountability (mas’uliyya). By learning about the importance of these values they gain a foundation that will help them responsibly grow their leadership potential.

Pathfinder Badges
Pathfinder Scouts level badges are designed to cultivate the adventurous spirit of young Pathfinders, typically aged 10-12 years old. At this stage, scouts are encouraged to take on more challenging tasks that reflect the resourcefulness and determination of early Pathfinders, such as outdoor survival, orienteering, and sustainable living skills. Scouts learn to embrace responsibility, independence, and teamwork through activities like camping, hiking, and building useful tools from natural materials. They take on leadership roles, guiding younger scouts while mastering skills that help them thrive in the wilderness and their communities. With a focus on exploration, problem-solving, and responsible risk-taking, the Pathfinder Scouts program inspires confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of service, helping scouts grow into capable and adventurous leaders ready to face new challenges.

Trailblazers
8th - 8th Grade
Who Are Trailblazers?
Trailblazers are enrolled in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. They are young people starting to realize their ability to make a difference in their communities and their world.
What Do Trailblazers Do?
Trailblazers engage in activities that put the core values of Salam Scouts into action. We put Trailblazers in a position where they can complete projects that manifest who they are and what they believe, acting as both stewards and leaders.

Whether planning and executing complex adventures, tackling environmental projects, or developing new skills, Trailblazer Scouts demonstrate independence, resilience, and the confidence to push boundaries. With a focus on trailblazing leadership, visionary thinking, collaboration, and responsible risk-taking, the Trailblazer series of badges empowers young teens to break new ground, lead by example, make a lasting impact in their communities, all while continuing their journey through adolescence discovering deeper sense of self discovery, personal growth and leave a meaningful legacy for future generation.
Ansar
Salam Scouts High School Program (Grades 9-12)
Who Are Ansar?
Ansar is a specialized leadership program within Salam Scouts designed for high school students (grades 9 to 12) who are ready to take ownership of their growth and impact. Centered around three pillars (Research, Mentorship, and Service) Ansar empowers youth to explore their interests through guided inquiry, take on leadership roles by mentoring younger scouts, and lead meaningful projects that address real needs in their communities. Through this journey, scouts cultivate confidence, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility as they become the Ansar, supporters and stewards of the world around them
What Do Ansar Do?
To empower high school-aged scouts (grades 9 to 12) to become confident, service-oriented, and intellectually curious leaders by engaging in self-driven research, community mentorship, and meaningful service projects.
Tracks
- Scouts of Inquiry (Research Track)
- Scouts Leading Scouts (Leadership Track)
- Scouts of impact (Service Project Track)
Scouts of Inquiry Research Track
To cultivate leadership and empathy by mentoring younger Salam Scouts (grades K-5 or 6-8).
Interest Discovery
- Scouts explore different fields (STEM, humanities, Islamic studies, social justice, arts, etc.).
Topic Selection
- Scouts choose a topic within their area of interest.
- Submit a 1-page proposal to their troop leader explaining the scope and relevance.
Mentor/Specialist Approval
- Scouts pair with a mentor (e.g., professor, scholar, local expert).
- Mentor approves the topic and provides feedback checkpoints.
Research & Development
- Scouts conduct research, collect data, analyze findings, and draft a paper or multimedia presentation.
- Attend 3 research workshops: “How to Research”, “Critical Thinking & Argumentation”, and “Public Speaking & Presentation”. These workshops will be hosted by Salam Scouts. If Salam Scouts are unable to host these workshops, alternative learning opportunities will be provided.
Final Product
- Submit a 3-5 page research paper or present at the Scouts Research Symposium which will be open to the community.
Scouts Leading Scouts Leadership Track
To cultivate leadership and empathy by mentoring younger Salam Scouts (grades K-5 or 6-8).
Leadership Training
- Attend a leadership workshop covering:
- Age-appropriate communication
- Conflict resolution
- Leading by example
- Planning and facilitating activities
Troop Assignment
- High school scouts are assigned to a younger troop.
- Role includes:
- Helping run activities
- Offering encouragement and guidance
- Leading badge projects or discussions
Reflection & Feedback
- Monthly peer check-ins to share mentorship experiences.
- Submit a Mentor Reflection Journal (guided prompts will be provided).
- Mid-year and end-of-year evaluations by troop leaders.
Capstone Project
- Each scout plans and leads one activity for their assigned troop from start to finish.
Scouts of Impact Service Project Track
To apply leadership, planning, and problem-solving to real world challenges in the community.
Community Needs Assessment
- Scouts identify a need in their local community (homelessness, environmental sustainability, youth engagement, etc.).
- Interview stakeholders or conduct surveys.
Proposal Development
- Submit a Service Project Proposal to their troop leader. The proposal must include:
- Issue description
- Goal and impact
- Timeline and budget
- Team/volunteer needs
Approval and Execution
- Present proposal to a scout panel (leaders and peers).
- Lead project planning, promotion, and implementation.
Reflection and Showcase
- Submit a Service Impact Report with photos and testimonials.
- Present their project at the end of year Scouts Impact Showcase.
